SOLAS VGM – update on solutions for overseas origin
New regulation is effective July 1, 2016.
Update on solutions for UK exporters:
Solutions for overseas origin shipments:
Where such services are available for Method 1, Pinnacle can arrange for loaded containers to be weighed at the origin port or an approved weighing facility. Otherwise the shipper must provide the VGM under Method 2.
Charges incurred by Pinnacle from origin agents or carriers as part of the ex-works and freight invoice will be passed on at cost to the UK importer.
Fees will vary but indications suggest that the cost will range from £15.00 – £40.00 per full container.
Indications suggest that consolidations will be charged per pallet from £1.00 – £5.00.
Overweight containers will be rejected by the carrier and may incur substantial additional charges; these will also be passed on at cost to the UK importer.
Failure to provide an accurate VGM before the cut off time could lead to additional charges and/or delays.
